Obituary of Warren Donnell

Warren Clifton Donnell, Jr., a resident of Burlington for 44 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Tuesday morning, December 19, 2006. He was 83 years old. Warren was born in Clinton, MA, the son of the late Warren and Kate Donnell. He grew up and was educated in Portsmouth , NH. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and RCA Institute in New York. He served in the Army as a Corporal in the 513th Fighter Squadron during WW II. He took part in the Air Offensive in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge with an Oak Leaf Cluster, and the WW II Victory Medal. Warren worked for 35 years as an Electronics Technician at Hanscom Air Force Base in Lexington. He specialized in Radio Communication and worked on Balloon and Rocket projects. He took part in launches in New Mexico and Alaska. He enjoyed camping and traveling. He loved to dance. He was a passionate reader who appreciated all types of stories, especially mysteries. He was an avid woodworker. He was devoted to his family and cherished the time spent with wife of almost 60 years, his 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Warren is the beloved husband of 59 years of Phyllis L. (Stallard) Donnell. He is the loving father of Deborah Davidson of Colorado Spring, CO, Judy & her husband Edward Robards of Southborough, Patricia & her husband Stephen Lafond of Deerfield, NH, Michael Donnell of Burlington, and David Donnell & his wife Doreen of Wilmington. He is the brother of Phyllis Shupe of New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON, (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
