Obituary of Patricia A. McCuish
Patricia Ann (Martini) McCuish, age 94, resident of the Gables of Winchester for the past five years and former resident of Woburn for over 85 years, passed away following a brief illness on January 12, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald A. McCuish, with whom she had shared over 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Woburn, MA on October 27, 1930, she was one of five children of the late Pasquale and Annie (Tierno) Martini. Pat was raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1948. She then went on to work as a secretary for various companies like Liberty Mutual, and John C. Martini Insurance, before finally landing at J.G. Machine Inc., where she worked for almost 20 years.
Patricia met her husband Donald at a nightclub in Boston. When they were married, the two settled down in Woburn, and became fixtures in the Scott Street community. They raised their children in a warm and loving home that was always filled with whatever songs Pat felt like singing that day. She loved music and to sing and was even a member of the St. Charles’ Choir and the St. Anthony’s choir for many years. Patricia was actively involved in The North Shore Yankee Division Veterans Association (YDVA) for many years. To her core, Pat was a feisty, independent, fun loving woman with an incredible sense of humor. Wherever she went she was always the life of the party, and had an enormous fear of missing out, so was sure to be a staple at almost every gathering. Pat loved to host her children, grandchildren, siblings, or whomever could make it over for family dinner, which was never really about the food, but rather, about getting to be together. Above everything else in her life, Pat loved and adored her family. Whether they were all gathering for family dinners, or posting up together outside their Scott Street home to celebrate Pat’s birthday with the Woburn Halloween Parade, getting to be with her loved ones was what she cared about most. All the big moments or fun times in her life, always had her husband, children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren involved. She and Don loved to travel and took frequent trips to Florida, Europe, Aruba, and took cruises to tropical places whenever they could. When they weren’t traveling though, the family would always end up back together in York, ME where they lived every summer. Every weekend was more like a family reunion because Pat was always surrounded with her siblings and extended family. She truly loved her family more than anything and took special care to make lasting memories with each of them.
Surviving Pat are her 6 loving children, Leslie Toulopoulos and her late husband Nicholas of Woburn, Kenneth McCuish and his wife Mary of Billerica, Celeste Cruse of York, ME, Neal McCuish and his wife Kristine of Woburn, Michelle McCuish and her husband David Schneider of Elliott, ME, and Allison Brabant and her husband Robert of Wilmington; her 13 grandchildren, Stephanie McCuish-Mastin and her husband Trent of FL, Amy Worden and her husband Tyler of N. Andover, Jessica McCuish of NY, Laura Bevilacqua and her husband Eric of NH, Elizabeth Toulopoulos of Woburn, Nicole Varney and her husband Ryan of Woburn, Daniel Cruse of Italy, Joseph Cruse and his husband Ryan Brown of Salem, Robert Brabant, Jr. and his wife Danielle of Woburn, Thomas Brabant and his fiance Liza of Wilmington, Aidan McCuish of Woburn, Emily McCuish of Woburn, and the late Jack McCuish formerly of Woburn; her 10 great-grandchildren, Kyle McCuish and his wife Katherine, Julianna Mastin, Sophia Worden, Alexander Worden, James Driscoll, Ava Driscoll, Eleni Varney, Nicholas Varney, Elliana Bevilacqua, and Sofia Bevilacqua; her siblings the late Clara Day, the late Ralph Martini, the late John N. Martini, and the late Eleanor Ross; as well as many other dear nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, January 20 from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at St. Anthony’s Church at 10 am. Burial will immediately follow at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s honor may be made to the Friends of St. Anthony.
