David Francis Fitzgerald, a kind, quiet and loving man passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2024, which was his 73rd birthday. Dave was the loving husband of Janet Sullivan Fitzgerald.
Dave was born and raised in Malden. He was the son of the late Francis and Anna Fitzgerald. Dave grew up in a loving home surrounded by his two sisters and his many cousins. Growing up family vacations were spent at Hampton Beach.
Dave and Janet married in 1991 and settled in Burlington. In 2021 they moved to a wonderful community called Martins Landing in North Reading where they were surrounded by many loving friends. Dave worked as a Purchasing Manager retiring from Lahey Hospital & Medical Center after 27 years of employment.
Dave and Janet had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed vacations to Marco Island, cruises to the Caribbean, and trips to many other fun destinations. A long-time Boston College sports fan and alumni, Dave and Janet had season tickets to BC Football and Hockey. They had a wonderful summer this year, spending most of it at their lake house in the Meadows at South Down Shores in Laconia, NH. During these past six years, Dave had many health challenges, but he always had Janet by his side caring for him and totally devoted to him.
Dave was blessed to have many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that he adored and was so very proud of. A conversation or a phone call with one of Janet’s siblings did not end until Dave asked what was going on in their childrens' lives.
Dave was the beloved husband of Janet (Sullivan) Fitzgerald of N. Reading, formerly of Burlington. He was the brother of Janet Fitzgerald of Wakefield and Lisa Hammersley & her husband Alan of FL. He was the loving brother-in-law of Edward and Mary Sullivan of Scituate, Brian and Maryellen Sullivan of Tewksbury, Kevin and Karen Sullivan of Burlington, and Scott and Joanne Donahue of Grafton. He was the proud uncle of Matthew Sullivan and his girlfriend Allie Mitchell, Kathleen Capps & her husband Michael, Theresa Ross & her husband Jack, Kaitlyn Sullivan and her companion Will Sampson, Brian Sullivan & his wife Hannah, Caroline Ambery & her husband Peter, Erin Sullivan & her fiancée Jason Kashmanian, Kyle Sullivan & his wife Cristin, Julia Sullivan and her fiancée Joseph Cristadoro, Brendan Donahue & his girlfriend Isabella Spagnuolo, Andrew Sullivan, Colin Donahue, Evan Hammersley, Kelsey Hammersley, and Jackson Hammersley. He was the great uncle of Aiden, Finn, Sully, Lillian, Cameron, Delia, Charlotte, Andrea, and Patrick. He was also survived by many cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday, January 2 from 4-7pm. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, January 3 at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10am. Services will conclude with a burial at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
