Obituary of John J. Arsenault
John J. Arsenault in Burlington of Woburn and Somerville, passed suddenly on Wednesday morning, October 30, 2024. He was 64 years old. John was born and raised in Somerville. He was one of six children born to Phillip and Virginia Arsenault. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in Somerville. He was a graduate of Somerville High School. He worked as a foreman for over 10 years at Anderson & McQuaid Co, in Cambridge which was a lumber and custom millwork company. He also had a side business with his longtime friend, Lenny, performing landscape services. In his younger days when he was saving for his first home, his second job was being a bartender in the Somerville area. He was a hard worker who wanted to be a strong provider for his family.
John met his wife when they were in high school. They married in 1982 and settled in Woburn where they lived for over 20 years. It was a gathering spot for family and friends, especially during the summer months where they entertained around the pool. He manned the grill and entertained everyone with his jokes and stories. He had a very quick wit. He and his grandchildren often teased each other. It was a little bit of a game they played to see who could out do the other. He took his family on many summer vacations to Maine. He loved it when he became “Grampy”. He loved his grandchildren and went to all their events. He was a man with large stature and even a bigger heart. He was a lifelong Patriots and Red Sox fan. John has had numerous health issues for the last 10 years. With the past few years becoming even more challenging. He was humble, never wanted anyone to fuss over him, and extremely independent. His pain is now over, he is reunited with his wife Eileen and leaves his family and friends with wonderful memories that will continue to bring smiles to their faces as they reminisce about him.
John was the loving husband of the late Eileen (Cotter) Arsenault who passed away in 2008. He was the loving father of Erin Arsenault of Burlington and Kerry Batiste & her husband Robert of Billerica. He was the proud grandfather of Chloe Hegarty, Brian Hegarty, Cece Batiste, and Tabby Batiste. He was the brother of Phyllis Arsenault-Berry of Duxbury, VT, Patricia Hagar of Southwick, David Arsenault of VT, Mark Arsenault of Medford, and the late Paula Poole of Hanover. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
