Faith Caruso

Obituary of Faith Caruso

Faith (Gordon) Caruso of Burlington, formerly of Revere and Chelsea passed away peacefully after a wonderful life surrounded by her family on Sunday night, October 20, 2024.  She was 96 years old.  Faith was born in Chelsea, and was the youngest of seven children born to Howard and Evelyne Gordon.  She was a graduate of Chelsea High School.  She married her husband, Enrico (Ric) Caruso, when she was 22 years old.  They settled in Revere and started their own family, not too far from where they first met.  Faith had five children and her life revolved around them.  She ran their home, and enjoyed attending all their many sports and activities. Her devotion to her family was tested after her husband passed away suddenly at age 51.  She was always instilling values and beliefs that they would later utilize as adults and parents. She was the strength and glue that kept her family together, and she continued that presence right up until her death.

Faith grew up summering at the family cottage in Cushing, Maine.  She and Ric later purchased cottages of their own in the same neighborhood.  Ric was a teacher and then Principal in the Revere school system, which enabled the family to spend their summers in Cushing.  Her sister and brother also purchased cottages, and then other relatives did as well. It became the Family Compound.  There could be 50+ family members and friends up over the weekends for swimming, boating and playing yard games.  All would gather on the large pier on the property to enjoy cocktails and each other’s company.  Dinners were spent around her large dining room table that could seat 25+ guests telling stories and laughing.  Everyone, whether family or friends, just called her Nana or Aunty Faith.  Faith would just relish in seeing all her family getting along, staying close, and keeping the family bond strong.  She enjoyed every summer and loved seeing four generations of Caruso’s together, which was what she was most proud of in her lifetime.

Faith and Ric enjoyed Revere Beach, spending time with friends, and playing in weekly bowling league.  Faith had a weekly “Club Night” when she got together with her sister-in-law and girlfriends to play cards, more specifically Poker for pennies.  She also enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos and traveling.

For the last 18 years she has lived with her son Ron and his wife Sandra and their family in Burlington.  She loved being a part of their lives on a daily basis.  She enjoyed going back to Revere Beach, and reminiscing about the many memories she had during her almost sixty years living there.  Faith’s is a legacy of family unity, commitment to others, and unconditional love.  Faith “Nana” Caruso’s spirit and values will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she loved.

Faith was the beloved wife of the late Enrico J. Caruso.  She was the loving mother of Karen Hill of Tyngsboro, Ricky Caruso & his wife Maria of Plymouth, Ronnie Caruso & his wife Sandra of Burlington, Kathy Robinson & her husband John of Cushing, ME, and the late Kim “Cookie” Stanton.  Faith was predeceased by her siblings, Connie Sedgwick, Phyllis Fuller, Eleanor Legrow, Charles Gordon, Evelyne “Twinnie” McNamara, and Ethelyne “Twinnie” Welch.  She was the proud Nana to Ryan Hill, Jeffrey Hill, Alison Hill, Amanda Sadesky, Krista Maguire, Caroline Besedes, Samantha Caruso, RJ Caruso, Jessica Caruso, Jillian Caruso, Justin Robinson, and Zackary Robinson.  She was also survived by 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service for Faith.
