Obituary of Barbara Jean O'Shea
Barbara Jean O’Shea, a wife, mother, Nana, and great grandmother passed away on Monday evening at the Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston. She was 77 years old.
Barbara was born in Malden, the daughter of the late Leonard and Florence Lind. She grew up and was educated in Malden as well. She married Donald O’Shea in 1956 and started their life together first in Malden, then Billerica, and settled in Burlington in 1963. She had spent the last 10 years living in Dedham. Barbara had worked as a technician and Manufacturing supervisor at Millipore for 12 years. She had also owned O’Shea Real Estate Company. Being a real estate agent, worked well in conjunction to her husband’s home construction business. They were a great team, he built the houses and she sold them. For Barbara, taking care of her family was most important career. She was always there to support her children in their sports, activities, and many life challenges. She was an extremely proud “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each of her grandchildren were special in their own way, as parents, military and law enforcement, and figure skaters, each were exceptional to her. Barbara was a past member of the Catholic Daughter’s at St. Margaret’s Church. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She shared many wonderful vacations with her husband Don visiting such destinations as Canada, Alaska, and the Caribbean. She will be remembered for the warmth, kindness, and love she shared with all her family and friends.
Barbara was the beloved wife of 57 years of Donald F. O’Shea. She was the loving mother of Donald O’Shea, Jr. & his wife Judith of Gurnee, IL, Patricia Avilez of Woburn, and Loretta O’Shea of Dedham. She was predeceased by her siblings; Leonard Lind, Jr. and Carol Larson. Barbara was the proud grandmother of Jason Keane O’Shea, Michael Avilez, Daniel O’Shea, Joseph, Sheala, and Robert Frasca, Jr., and the late Eugene “Gino” Avilez and great grandmother of Charity & Keegan O’Shea and Mia Avilez.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Friday, June 14 at 10 a.m. Followed by graveside services at the Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd #400, Waltham, MA 02451.
