I will always remember Kevin with great fondness. He had a big heart and strong loyalties. He was deep, honest, bright, and a lot of fun to talk to. We loved going out for pizza or burgers or having him over for dinner, and we'd tell family stories and talk for hours. There's no doubt, his son Junior was the apple of his eye, and family, always in his heart. We spent many hours discussing God, even heaven, up to his final days. One of the last things he said to me Saturday night was, "I really do hope there is a heaven," and I reminded him about the three men on crosses just days before that. In their final moments, one blamed God and the other turned to him in faith. And "the man in the middle" said, it was enough. Then the last thing he texted was, I love you. Neither of us had any idea that within hours of that conversation he would suffer cardiac arrest. I believe I will see him again one day, fully restored of Crohn's and at peace with God.
