Obituary of Jack Leo Tripi

Jack Leo Tripi, a former industrial engineer with Honeywell and Digital Equipment, passed away on June 16, at the age of 80. Jack was born to his parents Joseph and Josephine in Boston before growing up in Somerville. Jack excelled at St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge, both as an athlete and a student. He was on the football team and was Captain of his basketball team. Jack was President of his St. Mary’s graduation class.  Jack went on to further his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology where he received an associate’s degree in architecture, and on to Northeastern University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

After graduating from Northeastern, Jack went on to work at Honeywell. While there, he worked hard, and made many friends. One friendship he formed at Honeywell was especially sweet. He met a girl named Patricia while working there, and the two hit it off. They dated and got married in 1967. Jack and Pat went on to have a wonderful marriage of over 50 years. The two welcomed their son, Joshua to the family, made a wonderful life together.

Jack and Pat enjoyed to travel together to a couple of cherished spots, whether it was as close at Cape Cod where they had a lovely summer home, or as far as England, where Pat still had many family members. At the Cape, Jack and Pat loved spending the time with friends, relaxing and walking their dog Bella.  When in England, Jack and Pat loved exploring all of the English Countryside with Pat’s family. They were always taken in with open arms, and were made to feel as England was their home away from home.

Josh appreciated how supportive Jack and Pat were to him. They were on the sidelines always cheering for him at all of his sporting events; basketball, soccer, hockey tournaments in Chicago, they were always there for him. Jack was famous for cramming hockey players in his car for practices and games. He always asked each player in the car how he was doing.

Jack was extremely passionate about all the Boston sports teams. As the stadiums got bigger, and Jack got older the upper deck was not his friend. He stopped going to the games, and invested the money in a big screen TV to make his home feel like the stadium.

Jack’s brother Joe said that once became Jack’s friend, you were his friend forever. Jack stayed connected with people from every phase of his life. To this day, he stayed close to friends from his Kindergarten class, high school class, and Honeywell, his first job out of school.

Jack was the loving husband to his late wife, Patricia (Watts). He was the beloved father of his son Joshua Tripi of Woburn. Jack was the dear brother of Joe Tripi and his wife Robin of Andover and the late Stephen Tripi of Lexington, MA. He was the caring brother in law to Mary of Lexington, MA. Jack was the proud uncle of Adam Tripi, Alex Tripi & his wife Meghan, and S.J. Tripi, and Danielle Chesley and her husband Adam. He was the loving great-uncle to Peter Tripi, William Tripi, Jack Chesley and Mallory Chesley. Jack cherished and loved his entire English family.
