Obituary of John Anthony Tancreto
John Anthony Tancreto, a retired Postal employee passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was 80 years. John grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He and his family then lived in Burlington for almost 40 years. He has spent the last decade living in Wilmington He worked as a postal clerk at the Burlington Post Office most of his career. He had many regular customers who he served for decades. John was a huge Red Sox Fan and loyally followed them in the good years and the not so good years of the franchise. He was also a man who enjoyed the thrill of horse and dog racing. He had a great circle of friends, and the gang would get together on Friday nights to play poker. He enjoyed traveling with his brother, Bob. He was a member of the American Legion in Burlington.
John was the devoted and loving son of Samuel and Norma Tancreto. He was the brother of Robert Tancreto of Wilmington and Cindy Cullen & her husband Michael of Chatham, MA and Estero, FL.
Friends and family may gather at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, May 26 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church in St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org at Noon. Services will conclude with a burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials in John’s name may be made to Catholic Charities, www.ccab.org, 275 West Broadway, Boston, MA 02127.
