Obituary of James McFadden

Alfred James “Jim” McFadden III passed away on April 10, 2023 at the age of 60.  Jim was born in Winchester MA to the late Alfred J McFadden Jr. and Catherine M (Kennedy) McFadden.  He was the brother of Susan M (McFadden) Baia and her husband John of Burlington MA.  He was the loving uncle of John A “Jay” Baia and his fiancée Kristin Markuson of Wakefield MA.  Jim also leaves behind many friends.

Jim grew up in Winchester MA and graduated from Winchester High School.  He went on to attend and graduate from Franklin Institute with a degree in Automotive Technology.  He worked for several years in the automotive industry before making a career change into pest control.  He worked for many years at Terminix and ended his career with Ehrlich Pest Control.

Jim’s family was fortunate to have a second home on Lake Winnipesaukee.  His happiest days were spent at Chanticleer Shores in Gilford where he would learn to operate boats, drive snowmobiles, downhill ski at Gunstock and eventually fall in love with his first motorcycle.  His summer job throughout his teenage years was to make ice cream for Kellerhaus at Weirs Beach.  He usually brought home 2 gallons at a time when his family requested ice cream because they had to balance correctly on his motorcycle.  

He eventually was able to buy his dream bike, a Harley, and spent many carefree hours riding with friends all over New England.  He loved spending time outdoors and riding through the mountains always brought him happiness.  Jim was a friend to many and was always there to lend a hand when someone needed him, and he will be missed by everyone who loved him.

A private graveside ceremony will be held for Jim on Friday, April 21 at Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington MA.  In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial donations to the American Heart Association in Jim’s memory.
