Eulogy for Madelyn:
On behalf of Denise, Bonnie, Justin and I, thank you for attending Madelyn's funeral mass this morning.
Madelyn was most comfortable spending quality time with her family. Most notably during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. She loved cooking holiday dinners surrounded by her loved ones.
No sooner was dinner over when on we went to the karaoke machine. Everyone had a turn; however, all of us wanted to listen to Madelyn’s wonderful voice. She was the star.
Madelyn was conscious of her appearance. She dressed herself fashionably and always looked “the lady” whatever the occasion - naturally, her hair was beautifully styled! She could light up a room up upon entering. When music began, she was the first one on the dance floor. She knew all the latest dance steps and possessed terrific rhythm and it was difficult for anyone to keep up with her.
During Spring and Fall, Madelyn and I took Sunday rides. We would pick a direction and begin our journey. We always found something of interest and topped off the day with a visit to a restaurant. During the summers, we spent nearly every weekend at our cottage in New Hampshire. Madelyn enjoyed boating, campfires with friends and traveling throughout the Lakes Region in the North Country. Those rides culminated with a search for an ice cream shop for her favorite flavor: black raspberry in a cone.
Madelyn loved and cherished her daughters Denise and Bonnie. I think she kinda liked me too!
She was always there for them… offering mom’s advice, listening to their concerns and helping each of them when life presented challenges. Then in May 2001, her beloved grandson Justin was born. Madelyn was beaming at the first sight of him. From that day on, they were joined at the hip. Justin was her “sweetie boy;” they were inseparable. While Justin’s mother, Denise, worked, Madelyn took loving care of Justin. When Madelyn became a nanny, she made it clear that she would be unable to accept a caregiver’s role unless her grandson was allowed to accompany her; all Madelyn’s parental “employers” accommodated her request.
Madelyn enjoyed gardening. She loved flowers and planted many around our yard. She was the most prolific with the flower boxes on our deck; she chose, planted and arranged the flowers tastefully. Madelyn decorated our home as well. She made all the window treatments, sewing them herself; guests would always pay Madelyn compliments on our window treatments.
Madelyn was very compassionate. When confronted with a person in distress, she consoled them. If a child fell down, she would rush to their side, pick them up and reassure the child. If she observed a puppy crying, she would pet it.
Madelyn made you feel cared for. She touched many people. And now in her final hours with us, she will rise to heaven where she will be a welcomed addition to the Angel's choir.

Dear Bonnie and Denise, I just wanted to thank you and tell you what a beautiful video that was. It was wonderful to see all those photos, from her younger years through the present, to see her with Donald and you two, with other of her family members, and to see the things she accomplished and the places she'd been. Just a beautiful loving tribute to a lovely lady who lived a full and happy life, as she so deserved. Thank you so much for sharing those times and memories through this video. Love from Aunt Emily and Uncle Mike.

Respecting your wishes, I want to sincerely send my condolences to both of you on the loss of your mother. Words cannot express my heartfelt sympathy for this loss. Try to seek comfort in knowing that your mother’s endearing legacy will be carried on through you and all those who loved her. I pray that the memories you created together will somehow begin to mend your broken hearts and although it will never be fully healed, trust that keeping her memory alive will slowly allow you to accept that she is in a better place yet still with you in a spiritual way.

Maddy welcomed many people into her home and I was lucky to be one. She had a knack of making you feel like family. She loved big and deep and she knew how to light up a room with her laugh. My favorite memory is of Maddy singing and dancing across the kitchen floor in her Tewksbury home one afternoon while we were all listening to some crazy radio station.
Such a loss for us here - but heaven will be filled with song and dance.
My thoughts and prayers to you all.
Much Love & Peace

Dear Bonnie and Denise, I'm very sorry for your loss. My condolences to all of you, Justin, Donald, and Madelyn's brothers and sisters. Madelyn often went to karaoke with us, she had a powerhouse voice, and I remember vividly her performances, most notably her fantastic rendition of Constant Craving. Says a lot that she could sing that at least as well as if not better than the original powerhouse, K.D. Lang. I know she's on a wonderful new adventure now, and singing her heart out again "somewhere out there." RIP, Madelyn.
