Obituary of John X. Elliott

John X. “Jack” Elliott, passed away at his home in North Reading, unexpectedly but peacefully, on Friday, March 24, 2023.  The beloved husband of Carol (Kerrick) he was 84 years old.

Jack was born and raised in Worcester.  He was one of three children born to the late Joseph and Mary Elliott.  Jack was a graduate of Saint Stephens High School in Worcester.  He went on to further his education receiving a Bachelor of Science degree at Fitchburg State College and later earned his masters degree in Business Administration from Anna Maria College.

Jack started his career as a bricklayer.  He then went on to become a Professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology teaching Construction, Engineering and Construction Management Courses.  In later years Jack started his own Consulting Company, Jack Elliott Consulting. Where he taught building codes and construction   supervisor’s licensing courses for obtaining City of Boston and the State Building license in Massachusetts. Jack also provided consulting services to the legal field and private homeowners with construction related problems. He has given expert testimony in numerous court cases in Massachusetts. He was a Construction Superintendent for major construction companies on high rise buildings in Boston completing diverse construction and demolition projects.  Jack was a member of the Home Improvement Contractors advisory committee.  In 1997 he appeared on ABC New’s  Prime Time Live with Diane Sawyer.  Jack filmed 5 TV episodes exposing bad builders in 5 different states.  Jack was still working at the age of 84.

Jack was a true Boston Red Sox fan.  He attended games, collected memorabilia, and was a walking encyclopedia on Red Sox facts throughout the years. Jack even has an engraved brick with his name installed in the Fenway Park concourse. Jack and Carol had a wonderful life together. They traveled extensively throughout the world visiting many exciting destinations such as Russia, Ireland, London, the Baltic Countries, Spain and Bermuda to name a few.  There probably wasn’t a state in the United States that they didn’t visit together.

Jack will be remembered as a personable man who had great love for his wife, children and grandchildren. 

Jack was the beloved husband of Carol (Kerrick).  He was the loving father of John Elliott & his wife Lisa of Sturbridge, Michael Elliott & his wife Michelle of Spencer, Shelley Penna & her husband Lahn of Andover and Thomas McClellan & his wife Ashlee of TN.  Jack was the proud grandfather of Katie Denis & her husband Alex, Patrick, C.J. and Nate Elliott, Molly, Joe and Caroline McClellan and Henry, Lincoln & Archie Penna.  He was the great grandfather of Emmett & Nora Denis.  Jack was the brother of Mary Whidden of Worcester and the late Richard Elliott.  Brother in-law of Elaine Elliott of SC. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine Parish, 43 Essex St. in Andover on April 15, 2023 at 10:00.  Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.  Burial will be private.
