John would meet his future wife Gerri Coffill through a friend.  They married in 1966.  John and Gerri moved to Burlington in 1973 where they would raise their two sons and created many special friendships.

John and Gerri loved to travel.  They were always seeking out new experiences and cultures, and they never tired of discovering the world around them.  When their sons were young, they took numerous trips to Disney and California.  In later years they took trips throughout Europe, Central America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and enjoyed 29 cruises.  They also took trips to Florida and Atlanta to visit their son Daniel and their grandchildren.
