Obituary of Roberta S Martino

Roberta “Bobbie” (Bailey) Martino, a longtime Burlington resident, passed away peacefully on Jan 18, 2023 at the age of 91.  She grew up in Lexington with her parents, Helen and Myron Bailey and her three sisters, Helen, Sandra and Marcia.  She was employed by the Raytheon Company where she met her loving husband, George. The two were married in 1956 and settled in Burlington where they shared a long and happy marriage until his passing in 2005. After their marriage in 1956, Bobbie stayed at home raising her three daughters.  She enjoyed bowling and belonged to many leagues over the years.  Bobbie spent hours sewing clothes for her daughters and their dolls, and passed along her love of sewing to them.  She was an avid sports fan, following the Burlington High School sports, as well as her beloved Boston sports teams; she loved them all.

Bobbie is survived by her three daughters, Laura Groele and her husband Jack of Chelmsford, Sue Coneeny and her husband Mark of Andover, and Karen Spinale of North Andover.  Bobbie was the loving and attentive grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Scott, Katie, David, Jamie, Sarah, Kristen, Jennifer, Brett, Amanda, Erika and Joey.  More recently, Bobbie had the joy of being a great-grandmother nine times, to Adam, Devin, Carlee, Bodie, Josie, Grayson, Griffin, Bailey and Nina.  Her growing family brought so much joy to her, especially the young children.  Bobbie is also survived by her sister Sandra Shaw and her husband Phillip of Lexington, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is pre deceased by her sisters, Helen Lloyd and Marcia Cyr.  She was a cheerful, loving, supportive family matriarch and will be dearly missed by her family.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, Friday, January 27 from 11-12:30pm, followed by a memorial service at 12:30.  Burial will be at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Bobbie’s name, may be made to Project Home Again, P.O. Box 1236, Andover, MA 01810, phama.org
