Betty A. Knowles passed away at her home with her husband and son by her side on Thursday evening, March 18, 2021.  Betty was 78 years old.  Betty was born in Boston. She was the daughter of the late William and Johanna Beal.  Betty lived in Revere until the age of 12 when her family moved to Melrose.  She was a 1960 graduate of Melrose High School.

Betty would meet Forrest through a Christian church group called MYAF.  They married on October 22, 1966 and moved to Burlington in 1969.  They lived in a great neighborhood to raise a family and made many lifelong friendships on Sarah Street.    Betty’s primary role was that of wife and mother.  However, when her youngest son David was in high school, she went back to work part-time as an office worker.

As a family they enjoyed camping in Ossipee, NH.  In 1985 they took a memorable trip to Walt Disney World.  During their retirement years Betty and Forrest traveled the world visiting such destinations as Russia, Norway, France, Germany, Belgium, several trips to Bermuda, as well as Caribbean cruises.   Betty was a talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and sewing.

Betty was a supportive, caring and loving mother.  She was always there for her children.  Tragedy struck the Knowles family in 2004 when their daughter Joanne passed away unexpectedly at the age of 36.  She was outspoken and would always tell you what she had on her mind.    Betty will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her wonderful spirit and her laughter that would fill the room.

Betty was the beloved wife of Forrest E. Knowles, Jr.  Proud mother of David Knowles of Nashua, NH and the late Joanne Rose.  Mother-in-law of Stephen Rose of Woburn.   Sister of William A. Beal of Rockland and the late Robert H. Beal.   Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on March 25th at 2 p.m.  The funeral services will be live streamed by going to the Sullivan Funeral Home website and going to Betty’s obituary.    Visiting hours to follow from 3-5 p.m.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the Church of the Christ Congregational, 6 Lexington St., Burlington, MA 01803.
