Obituary of Thomas D. Soracco

Thomas D. Soracco, a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 after a brief illness. He was 58 years old. Tom was born in Arlington.  He was one of two sons born to Thomas and Janet Soracco.  He grew up and was educated in Arlington.  He was a 1980 graduate of Minuteman Vocational Technical High School in Lexington.  He worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office in Woburn for most of his working years.  He had his regular postal routes where he got know many of his customers and their families over the years of delivering their mail and packages.  It gave him a great joy when he was the delivering college acceptance letters, birthday cards, baby cards, and letters from family and friends to his eager and excited customers.  He retired with over 20 years in the Postal Service.

Ever since a very young age, Tom loved sports and all the collectibles that went along with them.  He started collecting baseball and hockey cards since he was 7 years old.  As he grew older his collection continued to grow with other memorabilia and an autograph collection.  He went to card shows, auctions, and flea markets searching for missing pieces for his collection and hidden treasures.  He loved adding to his collection but had a real hard time parting with anything.  He was the dad who knew exactly where to stand to get his daughter a special autograph from an athlete or celebrity.  Disneyworld and Cooperstown were favorite Soracco family vacation destinations.  He loved sharing his passion for sports with his daughter, Victoria.  He took her to Red Sox games, talked about great athletes, and memorable moments in sports history.  When Victoria decided to write and illustrate her children’s book, “God is our Friend”, Tom was there to encourage and support her in its development.  He loved family dinners and hanging out with old friends.  He had a great sense of humor and an endless supply of stories and jokes that he shared with family, friends, and coworkers.  He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann (Carver) Soracco.  He was the proud and loving father of Victoria Soracco of Burlington. He was the caring brother of David Soracco of Nashua, NH.
