Charles David Colombo, a retired staff member of Easton Mountain Retreats in Greenwich, NY, passed away after a short illness on Sunday morning, November 1, 2020.  He was 72 years old.  He was Charles to his family and Chuck to his many friends.  He was the son of Dominic and Theresa (Fucci) Colombo.  He grew up and was educated in Waltham. Education was a big part of his life.  He was a Waltham High graduate.  He then earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English at Canirius College, and his master’s degree in Public Relations at Boston University.  With all that education Chuck discovered he loved working with people whether it was assisting them in their daily lives, brightening someone’s day, or helping them to better understand themselves.  He worked for many years as a concierge manager at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Boston. He assisted businesspeople, vacationers, and many notable celebrities and dignitaries making theirs stays at the Ritz memorable.  He spent 5 years as a member of the staff at Easton Mountain helping in whatever function they needed.  He was an accomplished cook and shared his skill in the kitchen, helped run conferences, reunions, celebrations, and spiritual and personal retreats. The years spent at Easton Mountain gave him a great sense of meaning and purpose.  He loved acting in community theaters all around Boston.  He was also a writer and the author of numerous short stories.  He had a unique sense of humor, was a big tease, and loved a good scare.  Although he was an only child, he had a strong family connection with all his cousins and extended family.  He was kind, compassionate, fun, dramatic, and a bit crazy which made him so special and loved by so many.

Chuck was survived by cousins Rosemary Merrill of Burlington, Barbara Fucci of Waltham, and Joanne Newbury of Bedford, NH, Drew Merrill of Burlington, Ryan Merrill of Burlington, and Jennifer Napo of Westborough.  A graveside will be held at St. Bridget Roman Catholic Cemetery, Great Road Maynard on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. The funeral service will be will available for viewing on the Edward V.
