Obituary of Morgan A Searles

Morgan A. Searles passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Friday afternoon, December 27, 2019. The beloved husband of the late Rose (Goffredo) he was 95 years old. Morgan was born in Grenada, a Caribbean island in the West Indies. He was one of 11 children born to the late Edward and Louise Searles. Morgan was raised and educated in Grenada. He had a happy life growing up. Every morning before going to school, he would help his brothers and sisters tend to the animals and the land. His family was not rich with material possessions but rich with happiness. He was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the English Army. In 1947, at the age of 23, Morgan came to the Untied States for better work opportunities and lived with his older sister. He married his wife Rose in 1949 and eventually settled in Burlington in 1956 where they would raise their 3 children. Morgan worked at Hogan and Van in Medford as an Auto Body Repairman for over 30 years. He worked hard to provide for his wife and children and always had 2 jobs. Even after he retired Morgan got a part-time job at Market Basket in Burlington and did not stop working there until he was 80 years old. “Helping People” was his hobby and he always had a project going on for himself, one of his children or even helping a neighbor. When the children where growing up they would take their annual trip on July 4th to Weirs Beach at Lake Winnipesauke. In later years Rose and Morgan enjoyed taking cruises and trips to Aruba. When booking a cruise, he would look to see if one of the destinations on the trip was to Grenada so he could catch up with family members still living there. Morgan loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He had affectionate “nick names” for all of them. They all brough him immense joy. They all returned the love to Morgan and were all constant visitors to the Nursing Home where Morgan had lived for the past three years. Morgan will be remembered as a man who never complained, worked hard for his family and lived a full and happy life. Morgan was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Goffredo). Loving father of Deborah Murphy & her husband Marc of Wells Maine, Ronald Searles & his wife Eileen of Burlington, formerly of Wilmington and the late Linda Searles. Proud grandfather of Ronald Stokes, Patricia Stokes-Ramos, Donald Renkas, Devin & Brendan O’Leary, and Christopher & Ryan Searles. Great grandfather of Annalise & R. J. Stokes, Austin & Blake Ramos and Cameron Searles. Great great grandfather of Kenleigh & Brogan. Predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St,. BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, Jan. 1 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral from the Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
