Obituary of Clare Morabito

Clare Morabito, a woman devoted to her family, passed away after an extended illness on Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2019.  She was 85 years old.  Clare was born in Pratola Serra, Italy which was a province in Avellino. She was the daughter of Florence and Pasquale Marano.  She learned to sew, cook, garden, and other vital life necessities. At the age of 21 she immigrated to the United States.  She started her life in the Boston area, married and eventually settled in Burlington in 1965.  She used her sewing skills to become a seamstress.  She worked many years at New England Sports Sales in Woburn Massachusetts.  They made canvas bags for youth, college, and minor and professional hockey teams.  She had a creative mind and exceptional skills and could create custom products and intricate designs.

Clare was extremely gifted around her home. With her strong common sense, she could look at a project and could visualize how to do it herself. She sewed dresses and outfits for her children as well as all the bridesmaid dresses for one of her daughter’s weddings. She would knit hats, scarfs, and afghans for all her family.  She was a fantastic cook.  All her recipes were from memory and she never used measuring tools.  She had the mindset that everyone who entered her home was hungry and she needed to feed them even the backyard animals loved her leftovers and pasta.  She spent hours tending to her flower, vegetable and herb gardens.  Many of her culinary dishes originated from her gardens.  She also shared her harvests with family, friends, and neighbors.  Her home was always filled with family and friends.  Her grandchildren loved their Noni.  She was a bundle of energy, served them their favorite foods, loved to play with and tease them, and smothered them with love.

Clare was the beloved mother of Josephine Sullivan & her husband Jay of Deer Isles, ME, Anne Marie Parker & her husband Steven of North Billerica, Patricia Morabito & her husband Michael Caprio of Burlington, Angelo Morabito of Pepperell, Daniel Morabito & his partner Tom Hehir of North Berwick, ME and Clare Morabito & her partner Bob Phillips of North Berwick, ME.  Mother-in-law of the late wife Susan Taddeo.  Proud grandmother of Joe & Jamie Sullivan, Alex Parker, Bryan Morabito, Felicia Drew and the late Steven Parker.  Clare is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.   Sister of Carmelina Glado & her husband Gerardo of Italy, Maria DeFabrizio & her late husband Tony of Somerville, Geraldine Snelders & her late husband Thomas of Woburn and Amelia McDermott & her late husband James of Woburn.  Former wife of Angelo Morabito of Burlington.  Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Sunday, May 19 from 3-6 p.m.  Funeral from the Funeral Home on Monday, May 20 at 9 a.m.  Followed by a Mass of Christian in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St Burlington at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.  Memorials in Clare’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701  www.cancer.org
