Obituary of John Wilford Dulong

John Wilford Dulong, beloved Woburn Crossing Guard, passed away peacefully at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital on Friday morning, February 15, 2019. He was 89 years old. John was born in Woburn. He was the son of Frances Mae and John Oscar Dulong. He spent much of his life living in Woburn. He had worked at Chesterton Company as a machinist for many years. He worked for 42 years as a Crossing Guard for the City of Woburn.   He had a happy and pleasant personality never diminished even during the rainstorms, snowstorms, the coldest and hottest days. He always had a joke, fun comment, and smile as he made sure the students and parents safely made there way to and from school. He had spent the last 15 years of his career at the Linscott Elementary School.

John had resided in Billerica with his brother, Charlie, for the past 32 years. He enjoyed Astronomy. He enjoyed collecting antiques, memorable and historical newspapers, and geodes. He loved reading and clipping comics. He had a great sense of humor. He was an old-time movie buff and enjoyed black and white movies.   He enjoyed going to the horse races and the casino, but never placed a bet. He just enjoyed all the excitement, atmosphere, and people watching. He was a fan of the “Twilight Zone” television show. He was just one episode away from collecting all the episodes from the series. He was also a bit of a collector. He had a strong Catholic faith and attended masses in all the local churches. He was humble, kind, caring, prudent, loyal, and devoted to those he cared for.

John was the brother of Charles of Billerica, Jeannie Cenedella J& her husband Richard of Milford, the late Clarence Dulong, and Evelyn Gay. He was the special uncle to Cindy Brunelle & her husband Dennis of Burlington.  Godfather of Elaine Herbert.  He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
