Obituary of Helen Katherine Daniel

Helen Katherine (DiSalvo) Daniel passed away peacefully on Saturday night, November 24, 2018 at the age of 92.  Helen had full and rewarding life filled family, successes, and love. Helen was born in Boston. She was one of 3 daughters born to Italian immigrants, Domenic and Carmella DiSalvo.  She grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston.  She graduated from an all-female high school called Jeremiah E. Burke High School.  She married her husband, Charles Daniel and they eventually settled in Burlington in 1959.  Their marriage was one of love and devotion.  Charles was an accountant and owned 2 businesses over the years called Charles Daniel Inc. and K and H Services.  The “H” stood for Helen.  Helen worked along her husband helping him build his client base and then assist in whatever way necessary including secretarial, bookkeeping, and office management.  From all the experience working with Charles, Helen then went to work as a Human Service Manager for Digital and later Hewlett Packard.  She retired after over 15 years with those companies.  She might have been small in stature, but she was a firecracker when it came to getting the job or project done.

Helen was also a woman of style and grace.  She never left her home until she was exquisitely dressed, hair and makeup were perfect, and she was wearing her trademark high heel shoes.  She was gracious and fun as well.  Her door was always open to family and friends.  She was a fantastic cook and no one ever left her home hungry.  She hosted dinner parties, holidays, and during the summer months her pool and backyard was always filled with family, friends, neighbors, and an endless  supply of neighborhood children. Seeing others happy made her happy.  Helen and Charles were a wonderful couple who shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.  They both shared the love of ballroom dancing and loved tearing up dance floor and hosting dance lessons.  They loved to travel to warm weather destinations like Aruba, Bermuda, Hawaii, California, and numerous other tropical countries. They wintered in the West Palm Beach area of Florida for much of their retirement years.  They would get season passes to Walt Disney World so they could take their grandchildren when they visited or simply as a lunch date destination where they would enjoy a nice meal and watch the crowds pass bye, seeing the excitement in their faces.  As a mother to her son and daughter, she taught them to love unconditionally, to embrace life and the world around them, work hard, place your family first, and how to get the best deals when shopping.  She wasn’t the typical mother-in-law.  She would dote on her son-in-law, Alex as if he was her second son.  Helen and her husband Charles also had a very strong influence on their grandsons.  Charles taught them about business and money and Helen taught them how to love and present oneself.  She knew she was a bit of a shopaholic and loved testing her luck at Mohegan Sun, but those were qualities that just endeared her more.  Helen lived a full and long life doing what she loved and more importantly with those she loved.  Her spirit will live on in all the hearts of those she loved and cared for.

Helen is the beloved wife of the late Charles.  Loving mother of Karen Falzone & her husband Alex of Billerica and Stephen Daniel & life partner, Deann Ohler of Los Gatos, CA.  Proud grandmother of Alex Falzone, Jr. & his life partner, Stephany Bagby of El Segundo, CA and Joey Falzone of El Segundo, CA.  Sister of Ruth DiSalvo of Medford and the late Mary Perella.  Aunt of Don Perella & his life partner Marie Mangino of Revere and Bernard Perella & his wife Lorraine of Middleton.

Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m.   Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.  Visiting hours at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452 or  www.alz.org.
