Obituary of Elwood Noyes
Elwood J. “Al” Noyes, owner of William Gedick & Sons Plumbing & Heating, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center surrounded by his family, on Sunday morning, June 26, 2011. The husband of Joan (Thomson), he was 70 years old.
Al was born and raised in Somerville. He was the son of the late Margaret P. and William F. Gedick. Al was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in the North End of Boston. He also attended Bentley College. Al went on to run his family business, William Gedick & Sons Plumbing & Heating, which was established in 1942. In 1964, Al and his wife, Joan, built their home in Burlington, where they raised their five children. Al and Joan were married for 47 years. Al coached Burlington youth hockey and baseball, which his four sons were involved in. Al and Joan also had a home in West Palm Beach, Florida and would take monthly trips, where he enjoyed the beach. Al’s life was all about his wife, children and grandchildren. If you wanted to find Al, all you had to do is go to one of his grandchildren’s events and there he would be! He never missed a dance recital or a sporting event. Al will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Al was the beloved husband of Joan (Thomson). He was the loving father of Alan & his wife Pamela of Tewksbury, Kenneth & his wife Kristen of N. Billerica, Daniel of Lowell, Kelly Delaney & her husband Sean of Burlington and James & his wife Rhonda of Littleton. Stepbrother of Claire Tracey of Woburn, Donald Gedick of Burlington and the late Robert, William “Brother” Jr. & Richard Gedick. He was the devoted grandfather of Corey Clark, Allison, Christina, Aaron, Kevin, Ryan & Cameron Noyes, Megan & Patrick Delaney.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 30 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., BURLINGTON at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
