Obituary of Theresa Manning
Theresa M. Manning passed away suddenly in a car accident on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006. She was 76 years old.
Mrs. Manning was born in Watertown, the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Owen and Theresa Hannon. She had resided in Somerville for 42 years before settling in Burlington 12 years ago. While in Somerville, most of her activities revolved around her faith and church. She was an active Parishioner at Saint Catherine’s Church in Somerville. She was a member of the Mother’s Guild and helped support the Catholic Youth Organization. Both Theresa and her late husband Frank, were longtime and faithful supporters of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Somerville.
Mrs. Manning had worked as a medical secretary for over 20 years at the Somerville Hospital. When she retired, she devoted her time to helping take care of her grandsons, Matthew and Andrew. She had a wonderful relationship with them. She was a member of the Somerville Hospital Bowling League for many years. She enjoyed working around her yard and in her garden.
Mrs. Manning is the beloved wife of the late Francis X. Manning.. She is the loving mother of Theresa A. Ramsell of Plymouth and Francis X. Manning, Jr. and his wife Faith of Burlington. She is the sister of the late Owen Hannon and Margaret Dowd. She is the devoted grandmother of Matthew and Andre Manning of Burlington. She is the sister-in-law of Marie Hannon and aunt of Carolyn Hannon and Deborah Barry.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, June 3 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown. Memorials in Theresa’s name may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA 02143.
