Obituary of Norman Bennett

Norman J. Bennett, Jr. passed away at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire on Friday evening, January 16, 2009. The husband of the late Gloria (Hudson) he was 77 years old. Norman was born in Boston and raised and educated in Watertown. He was the son of the late Norman and Mary Bennett. Norman was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Marine Corps where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Norman and his wife Gloria lived in Burlington from 1961 until 1997 when they moved to Hudson, New Hampshire. His family had a long history of working in the floral industry. Norman worked at New England Wholesalers for over 25 years. In his later years he worked as an Operating Room Technician at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He liked to work around his house and in his yard. Sunday afternoons in the fall centered around watching football games. He also enjoyed playing cards. Norman was a family man. He loved being with his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Norman is the husband of the late 47 years to the late Gloria Lucille (Hanson). He is the loving father of Catherine & her husband Stephen Nardelli of Hudson, NH, and Jean & her husband Peter Lenox of Reading. He is the brother of Robert of Meredith, NH and Rita Manning of Ashland. Norman is the grandfather of Adam & Josh Nardelli and Molly & Matthew Lenox. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 12:00 Noon. Visiting hours Tuesday 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Norman’s name may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.
