Obituary of John DiBona
John “Jack” DiBona, a volunteer at the Massachusetts General Hospital and was a resident of Burlington for over 35 years, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday evening, October 15, 2007. Jack was born in Winchester, the son of the late John and Helen. He grew up and was educated in Winchester. After high School he served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959 holding the rank of Airman Second Class and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.
John had worked in the Gift Shop at the Massachusetts General Hospital for a number of years. He had also worked as a plumber for 20 years. But what he was most proud of was his 25 years as a volunteer at the Massachusetts General Hospital. During those years, he could be seen all over the hospital manning information desks, escorting patients, being a messenger, and the task he found most rewarding was reading to the children patients. He seemed to know everyone in the hospital. It gave him great satisfaction to volunteer his time.
Jack was the husband of the late Barbara (Rogers). He was the loving father of John R. DiBona & his wife Donna, Gabrielle DiBona, and Raymond DiBona all of Burlington. He was the brother of Joan Chelman of Falmouth and grandfather of Emily and Katrina DiBona of Burlington.
