Obituary of Mary Comeau
Mary R. Comeau passed away at age 103. Mary passed away at her home on Tuesday night, April 24, 2007 after a long illness. She was born in St. Bernard, Nova Scotia in January of 1904, the daughter of the late Siffroid and Annie LeBlanc. She married her husband Joseph Comeau in Nova Scotia. They moved from Nova Scotia during the Great Depression in the hopes of finding work. She resided in Chelsea for over 55 years before moving to Burlington 17 years ago to live with her son and his family. Mary loved to crochet. It gave her life great meaning to share her talent by making lap robes and afghans for nursing home patients and the senior citizens during the Christmas season. She loved to play cards with family and friends. She never lost her love of Nova Scotia and returned each summer to enjoy the peacefulness and spend time visiting her brothers, sisters, and family.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Comeau. She was the loving mother of Raymond of Rockland, ME and the late Norman and mother-in-law of Geraldine of Burlington and Yvonne of Rockland, ME. She is predeceased by her siblings; Laura Gaudet, Stella Doucet, Ira, Wilfred, Eva, Lina, and Rosaline LeBlanc. She was the grandmother of Corinne Andrade of Plaistow, NH, Carl of N. Berwick, ME, Clifford of Burlington, Robert of Rochester, NH, Jacqueline of Rockland, ME, and Catherine of New Gloucester, ME. She was also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington, on Monday, April 30 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be made to VNA of Middlesex East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880. Arrangements by the Edward V.
