Obituary of Betty Yetman
Betty L. Yetman, a resident of Burlington for 51 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Monday evening, April 23, 2007. She was 80 years old.
Betty was born in New York, the daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude Sparkes. She grew up and was educated in Brooklyn, NY. She furthered her education at a secretarial school in New York and worked as a secretary prior to having her children.
Betty was very active in the community and her church. She was a member of the Burlington Republican Town Committee. She was a Warden for Precinct 1 for the local and national elections. She volunteered her time at the library at Memorial School and was a member of the PTO. She was a charter member of the Fellowship Bible Church. At Fellowship Bible Church, she was the Church Clerk for 35 years, A Deaconess, and taught Sunday school.
Betty was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a wonderful marriage to her late husband Ken, who only passed away in January. She took great pride in making a warm and loving home for her family. She took an active role in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She simply enjoyed being with her family.
Betty was the beloved wife of Kenneth M. Yetman. She was the loving mother of Susan Yetman Lewis and Steven Yetman & his wife Deborah all of Billerica and sister of Arthur Sparkes of NJ, Harold Sparkes of FL, and the late Ruth Kasper. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa Lewis of Bradford, Matthew Lewis of Billerica, and Brian Yetman of Billerica and great grandmother of Jason. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Fellowship Bible Church, 71 Center St., Burlington on Friday, April 27 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128 Woburn side) on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
